Having bid adieu to the disaster of a year that was 2020 and with the onset of 2021, all of us need and deserve a nice, relaxing time to ourselves, and for once not have to worry about what else is going on in the world. And what better way to do that, than fall back on your bed with a bowl of popcorn and soda in hand, and catch a fun romcom or two? Even better, why not invite family to enjoy your little mini-vacay with you and have them forget about their problems for a while as well? Here’s a list of five comedy movies of 2021 that make the perfect watchlist – they will have you finding yourself catching a grand old time.

Thanks to the immense love and popularity received by To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before and To All The Boys: P.S. I Still Love You, Director Michael Fimognari is back again with the third and final movie of the saga, in which we finally get to see (spoiler alert) Peter and Lara Jean get the happy ending that they deserve, and like the last two movies, leave us feeling more single than ever. All of you who were rooting for John Ambrose though, sucks to be you.
Genre: Comedy, Family
Release Date: 12th March 2021
Based on the titular book by Amy Krouse Rosenthal and Tom Litchenheld and starring household names like Jennifer Garner and Edgar Ramirez, the plot of this movie is basically a mom and a dad saying yes to anything their children ask for an entire day. Chock-full of amusement park-like adventures, director Miguel Arteta presents you with an absolute must-watch if you and your family are fun-loving people who like to let loose once in a while.
Raya and the Last Dragon
Genre: Adventure, Family, Fantasy
Release Date: 5th March 2021
If you are a fan of the How To Train Your Dragon trilogy and want some of that dragon action in your life again, look no further: this is the movie for you. It is a 107-minute animation directed by Carlos López Estrada and Don Hall, and the cast includes names like Awkwafina and Sandra Oh. The movie is exactly what it sounds like – it takes us through the journey of the friendship of Raya, daughter of the chief of the Heart tribe, and Sisu, the last remaining dragon of the land.
The Spongebob Movie: Spongebob on the Run
Genre: Comedy, Family
Release Date: 4th March 2021
Director Tim Hill has given us a movie featuring our favorite cartoon sponge and cartoon starfish, and we couldn’t be more elated. The movie is an homage to late creator of the show Stephen Hillenburg, and boasts voice actors such as Awkwafina, Snoop Dogg, Keanu Reeves and Tiffany Haddish. The plot of the movie Spongebob and Patrick go on a quest to find Spongebob’s lost snail Gary (another beloved childhood friend of ours), and is one heck of a trip down the memory lane.
